On The Road Trailer

We are being spoiled!
2012 is turning out to be one of the better books-to-film adaptation years!

The Hunger Games and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo have already been released and performed so successfully at the Box Office that adaptations of the books sequels are assured.
What’s more – while neither are perfect versions of the books; each felt a great deal more authentic than the beautiful yet coldly detached Jane Eyre from last year or any of the (increasingly yet unintentionally hysterically funny) Twishite sorry Twilight Saga…
Lets not even mention The Golden Compass or The Dark is Rising. What’s that?
I’ve brought them up now?
Verdict: dire.

Yet these aren’t even the films I’ve been really anticipating.
The Hobbit, The Great Gatsby and The Life of Pi – I’ve been humming to myself for months in joy at the thought of seeing these!

I didn’t even know they were making an On The Road film – the book was penned by Jack Kerouac
A book I actually threw across a room once.

Ok, so I’m not the biggest beatnik fan in the world, but I can’t deny I’m really excited to see this. Whatever disdain I might feel regarding the characters decisions; the book is hugely significant and a really interesting and meandering read – capturing a different time and place.

Directed by Walter Salles

  • Sam Riley as Sal Paradise
  • Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty
  • Kristen Stewart as Marylou
  • Kirsten Dunst as Camille
  • Viggo Mortensen as Old Bull Lee
  • Amy Adams as Jane (Whedon Alert! Amy Adams was in an episode of Buffy!)
I’ve actually been a fan of Kristen Stewart for years, so hoping that this film manages to excise the Twilight films in a way that The Runaways just failed to do.

What do you think?
Looking forward to reading the book?
