A poem shared by my mum

Earlier this week, my mum sent me a poem called You Are Enough by Sarah Crossan.

It’s from a book that a beloved family friend had wanted to share, but sadly, we lost her last year. Her son brought it over as a belated Christmas present and it is such a wonderful gift!

This poem also has a dedication:

A poem for all the over-achievers out there!

you are enough by Sarah Crossan

you are enough:
you do not need to be funny
or glamorous
or bring a bottle to the party.
you are enough:
you do not need to dye your hair
or put fillers in your face
or reorder your image.

you are enough:
you do not need to work until midnight
or keep a clean house
or remember to put out the bins.

you are enough:
you do not need to read the bestselller
or watch the blockbuster
or recognise the meme.

you are enough:
you do not need to be patient
or kind
or offer you life as a sacrifice.

you are enough:
your presence,
owning its space in the universe.

That is enough.
