We went to York today and walked the wall. It was wonderful and a fascinating glance into the history of the city.
But culture is consuming and we didn’t have a chance to visit any of the local bookshops. Until our walk back to the car.
Fossgate Books is a treasure. A second hand book shop that is exactly what my minds eye thinks one should look like. Fraying carpets, books on every surface and that smell – the unmistakable scent of well thumbed and much loved books.
I didn’t end up buying anything (I’d already the Dorothy l Sayers and Agatha Christie books they offered) but was sorely tempted by the folios. Row upon row of the most beautifully bound books.
What a treat! I’ll definitely be back!

Wow! That’s beautiful!
If you get the chance, it’s so worth a visit!
