Which (Greek) Goddess Era are you in? 5

In another of my ‘when fandoms collide’ moments – author, radio presenter, stand up and classicist Natalie Haynes has just created a thread pairing Taylor Swift songs with goddesses from the pantheon!

Hooray! And ht to @ StefArchivist who sent me this first thing, knowing I’d be in awe!

Hitting the halfway point on our album to goddesses pipeline – here’s the entirely self penned Speak Now!

In her early career, people questioned whether teenage Taylor Swift could really have written the lyrics to her songs, so in 2008 Taylor decided to write her next album solo.

Speak Now would go on to become the best selling self-written album in history. Who else could have us all Enchanted like that but Hecate, goddess of witchcraft? There is no more suitable choice for the moment where Taylor embraced her own powers fully for the first time,

making Sparks Fly.
And, if you are looking for something Better Than Revenge, Hecate is the goddess who can help you with that. She is also goddess of crossroads, the moments where you choose where to go, or when to say goodbye to Dear John.

Hecate would surely approve of this dark, moody album cover as she is often depicted carrying flaming torches. ‘Shining like fireworks over your sad empty town’, you could say. She is no stranger to ‘dark twisted games’, they do not scare her.
‘Long live all the magic we made!’
