Which (Greek) Goddess Era are you in?

In another of my ‘when fandoms collide’ moments – author, radio presenter, stand up and classicist Natalie Haynes has just created a thread pairing Taylor Swift songs with goddesses from the pantheon!

Hooray! And ht to @ StefArchivist who sent me this first thing, knowing I’d be in awe!

We open with the first album that Taylor Swift owned outright – Lover

And just in case Twitter dies entirely while I’m completing this series…

Happy Divine Might Day to the US & Canada! This book is about the Greek goddesses & how we tell their stories. So for its arrival on her shores, we’ll be looking at them alongside goddess and storyteller, @taylorswift13. Which goddess matches which Era? 🧵

First up, in her Lover era, it’s Demeter, goddess of the harvest.
“I want to be defined by the things that I love, not the things that I hate, not the things that I’m afraid of.”
This couldn’t apply more to the goddess Demeter, who creates a global famine for Persephone,

the daughter she loves. Love and mourning are two sides of the same coin, as Taylor and Demeter know well. She’ll never walk Cornelia Street again. But when Demeter and Persephone are reunited, it’s like Daylight.

To find out more about Demeter’s story, you can buy Divine Might, out TODAY in all good bookstores!

Tune in tomorrow for the next era/goddess pairing! Let us know what you think it’ll be…
